"It’s escapism. I continue to paint until I feel I can walk around in the painting. Often my arm seems to move on its own. The first five minutes of a painting are the most exciting and creative when the outcome is all possibility. I’m a loose, messy oil painter and I experiment a lot. I am influenced by color, color harmony and balance of shapes with a solid composition. As long as a subject provides an inspiration, I am not attached to any particular subject.
I’ve developed my own sense of beauty and purpose having visited many of the top art museums and traveled extensively. This visual background is my data base. Painting is payback for the joy of imprinting these memories.
I don’t have a philosophy, no art speak here, the muse is smarter than I am and automatically inspires guidance. Just as a good movie can absorb you completely and leave you immersed into the screen, being at my easel quiets my mind and allows my brain to cross over to the artistic side. From there I just follow intuition. If I have painted something that gets you into the frame, I am honored."
